Characteristic:
It's salty. It is soluble in water. Soluble in alcohol, ether, acid, ammonia, ammonium carbonate. Its aqueous solution is acidic to the stone test paper. When heated to 624 degrees C, it decomposes. Exposure to air and light releases iodine to brown.
Usage:
Medically used as a local antiseptic, convergent, can be used as a reagent for the analysis of nitrites, free chlorine and other oxidants.
