Audited Supplier High-purity sulfolane is a colorless and odorless solid at room temperature, with a melting point of 27.8°C. Most industrial products are light yellow liquids. It is a multi-effect polar solvent with strong solubility and good selectivity. It can be miscible with water in any ratio, easily soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons and alcohols, but little soluble in paraffins and olefins, and has high stability to heat, acid and alkali. At room temperature, it does not react with acids, alkalis, diolefins, sulfur, alcohols, etc., and does not decompose and polymerize. When the temperature is above 240°C, SO2 is partially decomposed.
Application:
Sulfolane can be used to extract aromatics from petroleum reforming fractions. It can also be used as a purifier for natural gas, syngas and other acid gases to remove hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. It can be used as a solvent for high molecular compounds such as polyacrylonitrile, acrylonitrile copolymer, polyvinyl fluoride, etc., and used for spinning to make films. It can also be used as a plasticizer for cellulose ether, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene, polyamide, etc., and an additive for acrylic fiber spinning. It can also be used to separate fatty acids, extract non-cellulose components from wood, as a carrier for condensation, and add to tussah oil to improve corrosion resistance, flame resistance, thermal stability, viscosity, etc. Sulfolane has many other uses, such as impregnating cigarette filters to reduce harm to the human body; making pesticides and insecticides; extracting HF; recovering MeCHCN-Cu; separating γ-linolenic acid from primrose oil, etc. Its use is very wide. Storage and transportation:
Because this product is flammable and has strong hygroscopicity, avoid contact with water, sunlight and other heat sources during storage and transportation. The freezing point of sulfolane is about 27ºC. In order to facilitate loading, unloading, storage and transportation, add less than 3% water . However, in winter, proper heating and heat preservation should be installed on the storage and transportation lines.
